Ballet Competitions

Competing in a ballet competition such as the Connecticut Classic or YAGP gives dancers performance experience and gets them noticed by directors of ballet companies for potential scholarships or trainee positions. The process of preparing a variation teaches artistry and refines technique and musicality as well as teaches about the classic repertory. There are many variations to choose from and competitions list which variations are acceptable. If you have advanced students interested in competing ballet, we are available to provide coaching at your studio.

Below is some advice from ballerina, Katherine Morgan, on choosing a variation and on how to stand out at competition, as well as links to a few well known variations.
